Who Is David Gemmell ?

Hi & welcome to the bit where I praise someone that many reading this have probably never heard of, my favourite author David Gemmell. On the following pages you will find some info on the man and also a list of books , current info that i can gather,new book releases and a list of currently available books in the UK with images of thier covers & a brief synopsis.

My interest began with his book "Legend" which also happend to be his first published. From there i eagerly awaited the next to be printed which to my taste in reading matter diddn't dissapoint. from then on i was hooked and set about collecting all of his books, so far succesfully.Elsewhere on the website can be found links to other fan pages , "shannows lair" i recomend as usualy its very up to date.

David Gemmell is a full-time writer and a London Times bestseller. He is the author of many U.K.-bestselling fantasy novels, of which Del Rey is proud to be the U.S. publisher. Random Century, Gemmell's original British publisher, named their Legend imprint after his most popular book.

Mr. Gemmell was born in London, England, in the summer of 1948. Expelled from school at sixteen for organizing a gambling syndicate, he became a laborer by day, and at night his six-foot-four-inch, 230-pound frame allowed him to earn extra money as a bouncer working nightclubs in Soho. He has also worked as a freelance journalist with the London Daily Mail, Daily Mirror, and Daily Express.

His first novel, Legend, was published in 1984 and has remained in print ever since. He became a full-time writer in 1986.Married with two children, Kate and Luke, David and his wife, Valerie, live in Hasting, England.
